We All Have a Problem
Everyone has messed up in life. It’s a regular event! This is why the world is filled with pain and suffering. Our selfish desires will always hurt others. The Bible calls this sin and we all do it. (Romans 3:10) Sin is also a problem for God. Why? Because God is perfect and without sin. This means that in order for us to spend eternity with Him, we must be perfect and without sin too.
We Can't Fix Our Problem
The most common way we try to fix our sin problem is to be good. Everyone thinks they can be a better person if they try. It’s true! The only problem is you can't be perfect like God. No matter how good you think you can be, it won’t erase the bad. (Romans 3:23)
Jesus is the Solution
We all know there are consequences for bad behavior. Break the law and go to jail! It’s called justice and payment is required. The same is true when it comes to God and the consequences of our sin. Justice requires payment. (Hebrews 9:27) But there’s Good news! Jesus died on a cross and paid for our sin so we wouldn’t have to. Justice was served! We didn’t deserve or earn it, God’s grace just did it. (Romans 5:8-9)
There's a Choice to Make
Even though Jesus died for our sin, it requires a personal decision to take effect. You must personally accept God’s free gift of forgiveness by placing your faith in Jesus and committing your life to Him. It’s up to you! But remember your choice will determine where you spend eternity. (John 3:16, 18)
It’s simple yet really hard! It’s simple because all you need to do is pray right where you are. It is hard because it requires you to have a surrendered heart to Jesus and commit to following Him.
… if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:9-10
YOU JUST NEED TO ASK
By praying a prayer like this...
Dear Jesus,
I acknowledge to you that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I ask for your grace of forgiveness.
Thank you for dying for my sins when I didn’t deserve it. Lord, from this day forward I surrender my life to you. I commit my past, present, and future. I accept you as my personal savior.
Lord, please help me to follow you. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit and make me a new person in Jesus. I want to honor you in all that I say and do.
Thank you Jesus
Amen
You just excepted God's gift of grace!!!
